Hunting in the Blood - eTourism at it's Finest (Virtual hunt from home)

Lots of folks nowadays still enjoy the time honored ritual and sport of hunting.  Deer and fowl, small game, bear ,..If it’s a critter and it moves and hasn’t been domesticated, chances are it has been hunted at one time or another….Ever since God gave Noah permission to eat meat after the flood, life on this planet has been hazardous for animals…Yep, life for an animal, which has to be alert to the possibility of becoming prey to another from birth, is by no means easy…but, I digress…

I tend to find that most folks that love to hunt had a predecessor who came before them who also loved to hunt,.., you know like a daddy or granddaddy….To a lot of folks born in the rural areas of our country, huntin’ is a time honored “rite of passage”, for boys and girls alike, but especially for boys….

Yep, men like to get out there with their boys, get a little bloody, get a little dirty and try to relate to them the essential nuances and skills of the hunt.  Now, any intelligent dad, uncle, granddad, adult male will first of all have taught their children about gun safety, and then practice what they preach…They will teach them to respect the rights of others property, the basic hunting laws of the land and especially about the stalking, sure kill, and butchering of the critter that they are pursueing…Actually if you think about it, if your offspring have it in their blood to be hunters, this is probably  one of the most unique opportunities for  father to son, or  grown-up to young person teaching and molding of character times you will get in a young persons life. So if you are a person of good and moral character, you’ll be up on your stuff, you’ll watch your p’s and q’s, dot all your I’s and cross all your t’s, and know deep in your spirit that not only are you sharing a generational love and appreciation for the values of the sport of huntin’, but that you are handing over the next generations possible success or failure as a hunter, and possibly be influencing their character, for better or worse….

Sad to say, some of us sometimes forget that those little eyes and ears are taking in and watching and trying on and taking off the different things we do and the way we do them.  Huntin’ is no different.

When huntin’ is in the blood, chances are the young ones will have a natural inclination for the right things to do, but they will imitate what they are shown…Daddy or granddaddy’s word will be Bible for them, and anybody else who does it any differently will be  dismissed as foolish…As a matter of fact, speaking of the Bible, it states that “foolishness is tied up in the heart of a boy”, and that Fathers need to set the example and then live by it, because that’s why the Creator entrusted them to us….it’s a very serious responsibility in itself, but especially when we are allowing them to carry to power of life and death in their  inexperienced young hands.

But aside from the serious and important considerations as noted, huntin’ can be a time of bonding with our huntin’ partners, enjoying the great outdoors and mother nature, and immense satisfaction and success.  Good meals and conversation by the campfire, the smell of the wood , leaves and dirt…the freshness of the vibrant air, stimulating , rejuvenating and relaxing all at the same time…

When the love for huntin’ is carried over to our children, this time of sharing and bonding can become a time of priceless and precious memories in the future……When hunting’s in the blood…….
